چکیده
Background: Neonates with Perinatal Asphyxia (PNA) are at higher risk for developing Acute Kidney Injury (AKI). Conventionally, Serum Creatinine (SCr) is used to diagnose AKI but lacks specificity during the first few days of life. Neutrophil Gelatinase-Associated Lipocalin (NGAL) has emerged as a novel biomarker in such situations, while its value our setting yet be validated. The study aimed evaluate role urinary NGAL (uNGAL) level predictive term newborn infants PNA.
Materials and methods: This prospective observational included 55 full-term neonates PNA from Special Care Neonatal Unit Chittagong Medical College Hospital. The uNGAL was measured by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Urinary samples were obtained on postnatal day 1(after 6 hours), 3, blood sCr day1, 3 6.
Results: Among PNA, 20 (36.4%) had AKI. mean ±SD 97.77±17.13 ng/ml compared 25.76±2.19 those without day. متن کاملDiagnostic Value of Urinary Neutrophil Gelatinase-Associated Lipocalin (NGAL) in Detection of Pediatric Acute Kidney Injury; a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Background: Two questions about diagnostic value of urinary neutrophil gelatin associated lipocalin (uNGAL) in detection of acute kidney injury (AKI) in children have remained unanswered; first, which cut-off point of uNGAL has the highest value in detection of AKI; and second when is the best time for measuring this biomarker in a patient? Accordingly, the present study aimed to conduct a syst...
متن کاملDiagnostic value of neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin for renal injury in asphyxiated preterm infants
The aim of the present study was to analyze the diagnostic value of neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) in renal injury in asphyxiated preterm infants. In total, 48 cases of asphyxiated preterm infants, 45 cases of premature infants and 45 cases of normal newborn infants were included in the study. Using ELISA we evaluated the level of urine NGAL, kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1),...
متن کاملDiagnostic accuracy of urinary neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin in patients with septic acute kidney injury
BACKGROUND Sepsis is the most common cause of acute kidney injury (AKI). Very few studies have investigated the predictive properties of urinary neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (uNGAL) as a marker of AKI in septic patients. The aim of this study is to examine uNGAL in septic patients with and without AKI and to evaluate its predictive value. METHODS We prospectively studied 155 pat...
متن کاملUrinary neutrophil-gelatinase associated lipocalin is a more prognostic biomarker to distinguish antenatal hydronephrosis in neonates
Background: Routine diagnostic methods of Vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) are invasive and can cause exposure to radiation and may increase risk of urinary tract infections. Therefore, introducing reliable, non invasive methods might be more interested in pediatric nephrology. The objective of this perspective case control study was to evaluate the prognostic value of urinary neutrophil-gelatinase ...
